Who receives the money raised during GRPS
Arts
Advocates Fundraising events?
Funds
raised at Arts Jam are made available to art and music teachers in the Grand
Rapids Public Schools, who spend them on supplies, sheet music and other
things they can't afford with their meager budgets.
Here's
what a few of the teachers have to say:
"I bought neon paper - 1 ream of 7 colors - which I divided among all my
5 schools. I also bought permanent markers in a variety of colors for a
special project or two." Nancy Van Rooy - Elementary Art Teacher
"I used the money last year to 'fill' a lot of gaps. I needed 20 sets of
watercolor pencils, but only had 6. This helped me have enough supplies
to to actually use in a class. I did this in several instances."
Karen Williams - K-8 Art Teacher
"I've bought kiln shelves, posts, etc. It helps the students at Lincoln
Campus get their clay finished in a timely way. We've bought lots of supplies
we couldn't otherwise afford also - glitter, glue guns, special markers,
and glaze. Thanks!"
Elaine Dalcher - Art Teacher
